Description

Get your hands on some of the most coveted tickets around and experience the incredible Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. Discover the grand sets, all your favourite props and the immense craftsmanship and talent that went into creating the iconic films.

Your foray into the Wizarding World begins where Harry's did: in the cupboard under the stairs. After an introductory video featuring some of your favourite characters, you'll be welcomed into the Great Hall, where you'll see real costumes and wigs worn by key members of the cast.

The sets
The Forbidden Forest is accessed from the Great Hall through a gate flanked by masked Death Eaters, right in Aragog's lair. Other iconic locations include Platform 9¾, with the Hogwarts Express providing the backdrop for the first shot of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and then, 10 years later, the final shot of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Perhaps the most exciting part of the tour is Diagon Alley, home to the dusty Ollivanders Wand Shop, which houses more than 17,000 individually labelled wand boxes.

Professor Sprout's Greenhouse opened its doors permanently on the Studio Tour last summer. Step into the greenhouse to see where students received Herbology lessons—watch out for the Venomous Tentacula hanging from the ceiling! See a variety of exotic and magical plants, and get the chance to dig up a potted Mandrake as part of the interactive exhibit.

The Animatronics
Discover the terrifying Basilisk that lived in the Chamber of Secrets. Created with a mix of practical and visual effects, its life-size mouth measured 30 feet long with jaws 3 feet deep. It could even slide on a track to get close to Harry. You'll also see Buckbeak the Hippogriff, one of the most beloved creatures in the book (after Hedwig, of course). Buckbeak had three incarnations: one standing, another rearing, and a third lying down, and each of his feathers were individually glued on!

The art department
During the tour, you’ll come across the incredible model of Hogwarts Castle. A team of 86 artists and crew members built the first version of the castle, which was enhanced with digital effects to create the hauntingly realistic views of the school. With 2,500 fibre optic lights that flicker to give the illusion of students walking through the corridors, real gravel and plants, when you factor in all the man-hours that went into making the model, it’s 74 years!

The potion books, acceptance letters, sweets, and the Daily Prophet were all hand-drawn and hand-painted! All the potion bottles were also hand-illustrated.

The props
The sheer amount of original props in the Studio is impressive and incredibly rewarding when you spot your favourite, whether it’s the Elder Wand or the Golden Snitch. See over 950 potion jars with unique props inside in the Potions classroom and 900 memory vials and labels in Professor Dumbledore’s office. Did you know that over 130 plates were made to decorate everyone’s least favourite teacher, Professor Umbridge’s pink office? The filmmakers had to photograph and film real kittens with crystal balls, witches’ hats and balls of yarn. Sounds like a fun day at the office!

The special effects
It may surprise many fans to learn that their favorite special effects were actually real! The crawling door in the Chamber of Secrets is often mistaken for a visual effect, but it is a fully functional door, as is the incredibly intricate door to Gringotts Bank.

As you might imagine, green screens played a huge role in creating the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Quidditch, for example, would have been difficult to film without a green screen! Why not hop on a broomstick and try your hand at this magical game?

Don't forget to refresh yourself with a tasty butter beer, just like Harry, Ron and Hermione would have done in the Leaky Cauldron, and visit the amazing souvenir shop!

Dark Arts (September 13 - November 10, 2024)
Step into the iconic sets of the Harry Potter film series in a spooky, dimly lit setting and set the stage for Halloween! With floating pumpkins, Death Eaters and Dementors roaming the studio, you're in for a spooky surprise.

Hogwarts in the Snow (November 16 - January 19, 2025)
You are invited to a real "Harry Christmas"! Celebrate the most magical time of the year, when the studio is decked out for the holidays with a blanket of cinematic snow. Discover the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley, the Great Hall and more with beautiful holiday decorations and exhibits.

The times displayed on the booking panel are the departure times of the branded bus from your chosen location in central London.
